Pacific Rubiales Energy

Definition and implementation of financial planning and budgeting processes

Pacific Rubiales Energy, today Frontera Energy Co., is a Canadian company specialized in oil and gas exploration and production with operations in Colombia, Guatemala, Brazil and Peru. It is the largest independent O&G company focused on Latin America, generating more than 2.6 billion in annual EBITDA.

The Corporation’s Financial Planning and Budget Department, aware of the impact of its work within the company, identified the need to centralize and organize the information coming from crude exploration, production and marketing indicators in order to facilitate decision-making.

The Department also found that its processes and procedures had not been updated for a long time and were not fully understood, and that there was no measurement in place to track the performance of its areas and the delivery of the outputs that had to be distributed across the organization.
